Friend of Children Award

A Local PTA may present the Friend of Children Award to an outstanding volunteer, teacher, principal, assistant principal, school custodian, cafeteria worker, featured speaker, grandparents, business person or owner who continually supports your PTA. 

The Council-level Friend of Children Award was created to honor individuals for their outstanding efforts on behalf of children across the district and/or in multiple schools.  

Extended Service Award & Honorary Life Membership

Texas PTA Extended Service Award is given to those who have continued to give outstanding service to the Texas PTA. This recipient must have been actively involved in the Texas PTA for ten (10) years and be a Texas Life Member. This award is ordered through Texas PTA.

 

An Honorary National or Texas Life Membership is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an individual by the National or Texas PTA for outstanding contributions to the well-being of children and youth. This person must also be a member of the PTA and support the Objects of PTA. This award is ordered through Texas PTA or National PTA.

Dr. Jim Thompson Exemplary Achievement in Education Award

The Dr. Jim Thompson Exemplary Achievement in Education Award is a Council-level Award for an educator (employee of GCISD) who has served GCISD students for a minimum of five years; who demonstrates support of all the Objects of PTA in their service to students; and who is a PTA member in good standing.
