We Are Headed to Austin, and We Want You to Join Us!
Rally Day is a signature event for PTAs across Texas when legislators are in session (odd numbered years). Over 2,000 students, parents and educators gather in Austin, attend informative caucuses, rally on the Capitol steps, and visit with legislators with one goal in mind - to ensure every child’s potential is a reality!
Texas PTA's Rally Day is happening on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Austin, and the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Council of PTAs is thrilled to participate! This is an incredible opportunity to meet with legislators and advocate for the children of Texas regarding our 89th Session Legislative Priorities.
Event Details:
- Departure: Approximately 5:30 AM from GCISD's MP Stadium
- Return: Around 8:00 PM the same evening
- Transportation: Depending on attendance, we’ll travel together in a 15-passenger van, chartered bus, or personal vehicles.
- Costs: $50 to $75. We are currently working on sponsors for this event to cover or reduce our transportation costs, parking, lunch etc. Scholarships are available, if needed. If traveling in a personal car, there would not be a transportation cost.
- Attire: Business Casual or PTA/School t-shirt or order a Texas PTA Votes shirt. Nice jeans are okay- no rips or tears, please.
What to Expect:
- Morning: Hear from legislators on critical issues facing public schools.
- Afternoon: Meet with Representative Giovanni Capriglione and Senator Tan Parker, who represent GCISD in Austin.
This event is open to PTA members, parents, teachers, students, community members, and more! Details about whether students will receive an excused field trip absence are still being finalized.
